Abandoned

sad puppyThis sad puppy was abandoned by whoever was not responsible enough to spay their dog or take responsibility for not doing so. He and his two siblings were just dumped as if they were a piece of trash. So sad.

Dog Lover's Prayer

Here's a little bit of dog related humor on a hoodie. Next to a minimalist dog cartoon there's a dog lover's prayer that reads: Lord, help me be the person my dog thinks I am. I said humor, but as it often happens with humor, there's a lot of truth in that saying. Right?

The Dogs Are Back!

Well, hello! Happy New Year!

Last year I moved to a new blog, but this year I decided to start posting here again. I will use Dog Cafe to show you my dog paintings and dog products from my Pet Lover Gift store.

On top of everything I'll post photos of various dogs. I want to take photos of dogs I see on the streets, in the parks and wherever I go and post them here. I still have not started doing this, but I will soon. Lets hope it turns out right.

Cheers to the New Year and new posts at Dog Cafe!

No New Dog Paintings For Now

I have used up all the pictures of my dog paintings that I thought were good enough to show here. There are more, but I would have to dig them out from disks where they are stored and I am not up for that at the moment.

Until I paint a new dog painting there will be a short break in the posts. You probably won't have to wait too long. I can never stay away from painting dogs for too long.

Molly the Mixed Breed Dog!

dog paintingMolly is a recently painted atc card. She is an all puffy dog, has very dark eyes and she is showing a bit of her tongue.

The dog captivated me from the very first moment I saw her. She looked so cuddly.

I am not sure if I should admit it, but in real life she is a bit darker in color than she is on this artist trading card. I felt that if I painted her as dark as she really is than the whole picture would be way too dark.

Watercolor pencils were once again the medium of my choice. I like the ease of use they give me. They can be pencils and they can be paints. I can draw and I can paint... all at the same time. Very useful and very practical.

Molly looks like a pure breed, but she is actually a mixed breed dog. She has lots of class... the real dog, I mean... not my painting of her.

English Bulldog

english bulldogCreating dog art is one of the things that make me most happy and relaxed. Dogs are such beautiful and loving creatures, don't you think? I certainly do and I try to show those qualities on my dog paintings.

They say that bulldog, despite the rough look of the breed is one of the most gentle dog breeds. Based on the experience I have had with bulldogs I would have to agree. They love kids and they have a beautiful playful but gentle spirit.

Here, today, I bring you another artist trading card, an unnamed English Bulldog. It was half drawn half painted with watercolor pencils, as usually. He looks a bit grumpy to me, but he is probably just investigating and trying to figure why is his picture taken.

Bulldog is heading for Canada soon where he will live in an artist trading card collection of a lovely lady named Cindy.

Collie

collie dog paintingCollie is one of my recent dog paintings. I painted it just a few weeks ago using watercolor pencils that I love so much when it comes to dog paintings.

The painting is another atc and soon after I finished it I traded it for another atc. He arrived safely to Australia a few days ago and he is a part of my friend Sue's atc collection now.

As you can see on this painting and on the most of my other dog paintings, I rarely paint the whole dog. I like to put an emphasis on the eyes and get the facial expression showing. If I paint the whole dog, the eyes and the head do not get enough attention. Not as much as I like to give them, at least.

Tomorrow, another pure breed dog painting. Until than, have a nice artful day!

Blacky

black dog paintingToday I will continue showing you the dog art I painted in the past.

Blacky is the name of the brow eyed dog you see on the left. I was charmed with his eyes and that cute look of his and so I decided to paint him. I also liked the idea of having almost black and white painting with only the eyes highlighted with the color.

The painting is done on a 4x6 inches watercolor paper with watercolor pencils. It is mostly drawn, although there are a few spots where I used the pencils in a watercolor painting way more than in a pencil drawing way.

I framed Blacky in a nice silver frame and gave it to my sister as a Christmas gift. Both she and her husband liked him a lot and he is now displayed in their living room. It makes me happy to know that what I created makes some person's home a bit warmer, at least. It is an even better feeling when the person is near and dear to me and as big of a dog lover as I am.

I still have more dog paintings to show you before I run out of the old ones and start showing you the new ones. See you tomorrow with another one.

Wills

Wills is the name of the dog in the dog painting for this entry. To be honest, I do not know what the real name of the real dog is. Wills is just the name of the dog painting and my imaginary name.

I remember that I finished the painting, looked at it and Prince William came to mind and so I had to call the painting Wills. I can not remember what was it about this particular dog to remind me of the young prince, though. Does not matter really, it was the thing of the moment.

Unlike the paintings from the previous entries, this one is 4x6 inches in size. Obviously, it is not an artist trading card, it is an apc or artist post card. The difference is just in the size, all the rest is the same - it is a painting that is traded for another painting made by enthusiastic artists from around the world.

Wills was done with watercolor pencils, so it is a mixture of a drawing and a painting. This is about all I can tell you about this lovely dog that I considered cute enough to paint.

See you soon when I will surely have more dog art to show you!

Pinky the Girly Dog

dog paintingPinky is the star of this entry. This dog painting is yet another from a series of my artist trading cards featuring cute dogs.

Pinky was painted and drawn with watercolor pencils and as all atcs it measures 3.5 by 2.5 inches. The paper is a heavy watercolor paper that was not quite smooth, so the image is not as good as the original is. The uneven surface of the paper looks nice when you look at it, but on the screen it distorts the painting somewhat.

The reason for picking Pinky for a painting is surely obvious. She is such a happy, cute looking dog, I just had to paint her. I picked to paint the girly collard so I would add even a bit more cheerfulness and cuteness to her look.

Pinky now lives in Australia and I am sure she is well treated there. Yes, it is just a painting, but my dog paintings are dear to me. It is important that I find them a good home, somewhere where there are both dog lovers and art lovers around.

Curly the Cutsie Dog

Another day, another artist trading card featuring my dog painting.

This atc is called Curly and it is a watercolor pencil painting/drawing I did some months ago.

Curly won my love with her beautiful eyes and the lovely ears. It was exciting and very enjoyable to paint such a cute dog.

As with my other artist trading cards, I swapped Curly the dog for a card painted by a friend from my trading group. I found her a good home and I am not sad that she is not with me any more.

Yet Another Dog Painting

dog paintingThe dog painting for today is called Lady and it is another watercolor pencil atc I did a while ago.

I called the painting Lady, because that is how I see the dog that I painted. It has a ladylike look, or at least that is how I see it.

Not much to say about this one. It is simple, but I like it. That was enough to earn it a place in this journal.

Sleepy Dog

sleepy dogVery, Very Sleepy is the name of the painting featured in this entry. It was made with watercolor pencils on watercolor paper and represents a puppy peacefully sleeping.

This dog painting is another atc, so it is quite small in dimensions - just 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches. Artist trading cards are a lot of fun and when the painting is of a dog, that is double fun.

In this picture I like the sleepy eyes and he way his paw shows next to the face. I am happy to say that I made this painting look exactly like I wanted it to look.

I painted the sleepy puppy last year and now it has a home in California, among the other cards in the atc collection of my friend and an excellent painter - Marta.

Sad Dog Painting

sad dogToday I bring you another one of my dog paintings. Long after it was painted I turned it into a design.

When I saw this dog he immediately looked sad to me. I saw it in his eyes and I see it in the way he positioned him head on the floor. When painting this lovely dog I hoped to transfer all these impressions and emotions to the paper. I have to admit that I was very pleased with the painting once it was finished.

As I mentioned, I turned the painting into a design and you can see the result of that in the Sad Dog shop. The design is available on many different products but my favorite three are: Framed Tile, Throw Pillow and Tote Bag. The t shirts are not bad either, if I may say so myself.

Dog ATC Painting

I showed you one ATC yesterday. Today I have another one for you. This is the type of dog paintings I usually paint.

This cute dog was painted with watercolor pencils, so technically it is a mix of a drawing and a painting. My intention was to paint a dog that is seeking attention of the human. See how the dog is looking up expectantly, that was the idea.

Did you notice how I almost always paint close ups of dogs? That is because I find a dog's head to be the most interesting part of the dog. I especially love painting eyes. The eyes tell so much, both in humans and animals. All in all, the whole dog is great to see and especially pet, but for paintings I prefer the head.

Bye till the next entry and be good to your dog!

No Products, Just a Dog Painting

Due to unfortunate misunderstanding, I was not able to post any new entries in the last few days. Fortunately, things are back to normal and will be back to posting.

I showed you a lot of products in the previous posts. You might be a bit tired of all the t shirts and other products even though they all feature cute dogs. You may not be tired, but than, you might... so I will do something different this time.dog art

For your viewing pleasure I give you one of my first dog drawings. It was drawn using colored pencils. You can see that I am not very skillful when it comes to drawing with colored pencils, but even so I liked the final result.

This dog drawing is quite small - just 2.5x3.5 inches. It is actually an ATC - artist trading card that I made for the wonderful artist trading group that I belong to. I traded the dog for another artist trading card and even though I do not remember which ATC exactly it was I am sure I loved it just as I love all the artist trading cards from my ever growing collection.

Well, that was my dog painting for today. There are many more to show you, but they will have to wait for me to write another entry.

Blue Dachshund Dog Design - part two

dachshund dog wall clockI am back to bring you the same design as the one from the previous post, but on different products. This time the unusual blue dachshund is featured on different products - a wall clock and an oval sticker.

The wall clock looks especially nice to me. I can see it hanging on a wall of a dog lover family's home, especially if they have a dachshund pet happily running around the house.

The wall clock would bring cheer in a calm room with walls colored with a light blue or maybe a variation of pale yellow paint. I can also see this wall clock in a kid's room. Boy or girl, both will do... blue suits us all.

Blue dachshund wall clock would make a nice and unusual art gift and, of course, a dog lover gift.

dachshund dog oval stickerThe second product with the same image featured in this entry will be the oval sticker.

I chose a sticker on purpose. A sticker is the simplest of products, but still one of my favorites. One can put a sticker everywhere. A sticker is cheap, it has many uses and finally and most importantly, it is loads of fun.

Kids love stickers, so I think this miniature dachshund sticker would be best used as a gift for a child. That or featured on some person's car - someone who likes to be different and original.

Wall clock and the sticker featured in this entry and other products with the same design can be found in my dachshund dog lover gift shop. Do check it out when you have time and when you are hunting for an unusual arty gift!

Unusual Dachshund Dog Design!

blue dachshund dog t shirt
Featured design for today is an unusual miniature dachshund dog from my dog lover gift shop.

You can get this original design on all sorts of products, but in this entry I will show you the fitted t shirt and kids t shirt with the blue dachshund dog design.

Blue is the favorite color for many people. Many people are dog lovers. Therefore... I thought, someone will surely love a blue dog. It is simple and it is different, but if you ask me, in design those are good things.

The fitted t shirt is obviously a t shirt for a man and goes best on an athletic male body. If you are not very athletic, do not worry, there are t shirts and other shirts of all kinds with this design on them.

Blue dachshund dog t shirt, as any other t shirt can be worn every day and in many different situations. It is a casual wear for the gym, walk in the park, time with friends and a casual night out, as well.
blue dachshund dog t shirt
Kids t shirt on the right can be worn by a girl and a boy. Kids, especially dog lover kids will love this shirt as it is quite unusual and it can capture their attention. It will also stimulate their imagination. Yes, I am sure that kids would just love this t shirt. With all that in mind I can say that blue dachshund dog t shirt would make a great gift no matter if you want to give it to a boy or a girl. If you want to surprise a child and give him or her something s/he can enjoy and love than you should at least consider this tee shirt. If nothing else, it will be a unique gift.

Next time... same design on different products.

Same Dachshund Dog - Different Dog Design

dachshund dog lover giftDesign from yesterday and the one featured in this entry are very similar. It's the same dachshund dog with a few modifications. The black background and red outline from the design from yesterday are gone. In stead, the background is transparent and the outline is black.

The cartoonish drawing for today is a much brighter and calmer design. A dachshund dog is a sweet and amusing character and I hope that the design shown here nicely represents the features of the cute breed.

Pink t shirt adds to the cuteness of the design - they go well together. Girl dog lover could look really great in this shirt considering that pink is such a girly color.
dachshund dog lover gift
Girls, of course, are not the only ones who like dachshunds. For men, I have a white tee shirt to offer.

Interestingly, the white background takes away a lot of the cuteness and no too obvious cuteness is great when the tee is going to be worn by a man.

The white t shirt is calm and the design fits it nicely. Male dachshund dog lover would look very nice in the white t shirt and even get a smile or a few from female fans of the same breed.

You can find the pink t shirt, the white t shirt and other dachshund t shirts in my dachshund dog lover gift shop.

Grumpy Dachshund Dog Design Mouse Pad

dachshund dog lover gift
Yesterday the featured design was a chihuahua. Today it is another pure breed dog design, but made in a very different manner.

The design in this entry - Grumpy Dachshund Dog is my take on pop art, believe it or not. It is a bit dark and unusual for pop art, but it was an experiment and I like it.

Dachshund shape is what caught my attention, so I made this cartoon like design very simple and put the emphasis on the elongated shape. The red is supposed to give a hint of passion.

Even though the design is very simple, I find a grumpy attitude in the posture and the face expression. I did not plan to work the attitude into the picture, it was just a lucky accident. I chose a black background to bring out the picture. The picture would not be as effective if the background was white.

Dachshund is a popular figure and the long short shape certainly has a lot of fans among dog lover population. For that reason, I think that this mouse pad would be a nice dachshund dog lover gift. It would take fancy of a dog lover with a taste for the unusual and simple art.

You can find Grumpy Dachshund Dog Mouse pad over at my Dog Lover Gift shop. Other products in that show with this original design are some cheap buttons and magnets and other products.

Chihuahua Dog Design - Featuring Chihuahua T Shirt

dog chihuahua pictureHello! Today I bring you a chihuahua dog design from one of my Dog Lover Gift shops.

I painted this cute chihuahua for a dog lover friend who is also a proud owner of a miniature chihuahua. Later, I added the text sign and turned the watercolor pencil painting into a design.

I do not know about you, but to me, the huge ears and big shining eyes look very cute. I could just lean in and give her a kiss.

There is a whole range of products with this chihuahua design on them. There are various t shirts, stickers, a journal, mugs, mouse pad and more.
chihuahua t shirt
In this entry I will show you the white chihuahua t shirt. It can not go more classic and relaxed than a white t shirt. A tee can be worn anywhere and everywhere these days. You can wear it around the house, in the gym, when you go for a walk or take your dog to the park...

You could show his love for animals with this chihuahua t shirt. It could prove to be a nice conversation starter and would get other dog lovers to at least smile if not come up and start a conversation with you. All in all, this design on whatever product you prefer would be a good dog lover gift and again it is dog art, so it would be a nice art gift for those who are art fans.

Brown Puppy With Blue Eyes Journal

dog art gift
Brown puppy with blue eyes sitting on the grass, looking slightly bored is the second dog painting turned design that I will show you. It belongs to one of my Dog Lover Gift shops.

I painted this puppy long before I even thought of joining CafePress and making designs out of my paintings. I chose to paint this puppy because he looked cute and had this funny expression on his face. To me he looks bored a bit, but also as if he is planning his next mischief. Sort of Bart Simpson of the dogs.

I know, I know, I have a wild imagination.

You can get this same design on a t shirt, too, but I chose to show you the journal first. For a dog lover this could make a great art journal. It could be a nice and unique dog lover gift or an art gift.

How could you use this art journal? There is the obvious... it could be a journal of a dog lover, whether there are stories about dogs in it or not. A dog owner could write a journal about her or his pet dog in it. It could be used as a drawing/painting journal. For a beginner painter, it could provide to be an inspiration to practice.

Dog lover gift, dog art gift, a journal for yourself or something else... All the same, I painted it with love and I hope you will like it at least a bit.

Dog Art Rectangle Magnet

dog lover gift
Dog painting design that I will present you first is Dog Art Rectangle Magnet, from one of my Dog Lover Gift shops.

The painting is an intense close up. The dog looks very curious and interested. He looks as if he might come out of the magnet and sniff you at any given moment. Look at his eyes. When I painted them hoped they would help conjure the whole inquiring mind image. It is not only human who can have a curious mind, you know.

Why a magnet? Magnets are fun and useful. I see the place of the featured magnet on a fridge. It puts a smile on my face and there can never be too much smiles in a day. Would this magnet be a good dog lover gift? It would, I think! It is arty, inexpensive and cute, what else could one want from a dog gift!?

Rectangle magnet is not the only product featuring this cute brown dog. The design comes on a t shirt, sticker and more products, but I will tell you about them in one of my next posts.

Dog Art My Way

I am a dog lover and my hobby is painting. Put these two together and you get lots of dog paintings. For a long time I only shared my dog art with my friends, but recently I decided to turn my dog paintings into designs and share them with the world.

T shirt, mug, sticker, magnet, bag... each of these products plus more is a potential home for my dog design. I make, promote and sell these dog art products on CafePress. I see them as dog lover gift ideas and something a dog art fan would like to have around.

When sell something and make money I will use it to buy art material - good paper and pens and paints, so I can paint even more cute dogs.

Dog Cafe is the place where I will show you products with my dog art designs, but it is more than a showcase. Dog Cafe is my art journal. I will talk about creating my art, my inspirations and my love for all kinds of dogs - pure breed as well as mixed breed dogs. Finally, Dog Cafe is the place where I will often give free original dog paintings to the dog lover readers of my journal.

Whether you are looking for a dog art or dog lover gift, or you just enjoy dog paintings, I invite you to stay, look around and have fun.
